Good Friday at Kampung Karu

We went to Kampung Karu to minister to our sister church there for Good Friday. This is the second time as a Youth Group we have gone outside out church to minister. But unfortunately we were all busy praying for people and so the only pictures we have is of us posing together and making new friends at the church !!

This is no Kampung girl.. she is Emmerline daughter of Uncle who lent us the Paddle Pop van !!

We had a great time of makan - makan fellowship and making friends of all ages. Below Rachel is trying her skills as Young Sunday School teacher..

Hmm if words and gentle persuasion fails.. there is always the power of FORCE !

Future musicians and worship leaders at Kampung Karu Good News Fellowship Church !

Although we didnt do much this trip we learnt to make new friends.. to worship in BM even if some of us did'nt really understand the words.. we learnt that God is doing something wonderful in this Church and as they continue to seek Him we believe that the entire kampung will come to know Him !

Our Lundu Retreat - March

We arrived in Lundu for a Retreat.. far away from parents, school work, tuition and tv ! See our Big Paddle Pop Van? Thanks Uncle Ooi !.. No we did'nt all go in one van but it was a cool van!
Amanda and gang opened the retreat with a drama..... " If I give my heart to you..."

She tries to find love and acceptance with some " IT" girls

But she is not cool or hip enough.. she doesnt hang out in the right places.. she dosent dress like them and so they reject her and drive her nuts ! Next... Amanda looks for a guy friend !

He seems eager to receive her heart and attention! Wah Dennis so like real !But ... alas his attention span is brief and fleeting.. .. Poor Amanda !

His roving eyes have spotted Rachel... and so he returns the heart Amanda gives him !

How uncool ! He gives her back her " heart "!! Wah all the girls at camp now want to smack him!

Finally a friend Amanda can trust... " Jesus" gives her HIS heart and promises to take care of hers for eternity ! Now that's one way to find TRUE LOVE !

After all the drama it was time to dig into His Word !

It was'nt all study and stuff... we had games and a chance to release our youthful energy !

We were starving by dinner time. Food was'nt that great but we were all hungry so it did'nt matter if we ate paper plates !. During dinner Megan's eye began to swell up like balloon. She was pretty out of it and did'nt eat much. But during worship....

Later Megan and her bulging right eye led worship. We were'nt too sure if she wanted to lead cos by the time we got back she was kinda low. But she rose to the occassion .. then during the worship her swollen eye subsided and got back to normal !

Yeah and during the worship a centipede got into Ivory's t-shirt.. Ivory is the one in green.. and it crawled up onto her face before she flicked it off her! Praise God it did'nt bite her !

Joel Goh 13 Years- " As I was worshipping I felt like I wanted to fall. I heard God calling my name . "

Dylan Chen 14 years - " When we worshipped I eally felt the peace of God. All my worries and cares just went away. My legs were cramping and I had lotsa bites but they did'nt seem to bother me . I had nothing else in my mind except for worship.

Megan Lim 15 years - " My eye was all big and lumpy and I was very angry and frustrated. It seemed like everytime I come for a Youth event something would happen to me. But I was determined to lead the worship and as I led the worship the swelling on my eye got less and less and eventually it disappeared ! "

In that night alone so many wierd things happened. Dennis met with a terrible car crash but although the car was badly smashed up God protected him and he escaped completely whole and well! Giant spiders appeared and the more we pressed into Praise they disappeared! We ended the night with a campfire which Uncle Jeff had made !

The next morning breakfast was peanut butter and tuna... yeah sometimes both in one piece of bread.

Then after a short session of worship it was..

Back in the Paddle Pop van and straight home to Kuching !.. no more giant spiders, moths, centipedes and scary peanut butter and tuna sandwiches !

Christmas Project '08 - The Spring

This Christmas...

Our project this holiday was to bring our church worship to the Spring mall. From music to dancing and even yo-yo playing! We had weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks and WEEKS of practices and ta-da! The day arrived and we had a blast...

You can imagine how big a deal this is because
KATRINA HAD MAKE UP ON!!!!
